‘Remembrance – A poem written today to say ‘thank you’

Remembrance poem Frances Whitman

Remembrance poem Frances Whitman

‘Remembrance’ 11/11/2018

For all our tomorrow’s we remember YOU,
For all our days we honour YOU,
For each step YOU trod
In each unforgiving war.
We cannot soothe your wounds,
Sustained on our behalf,
We cannot give you back life,
Sacrificed, believing in peace for all.
YOU fought,
YOU suffered,
YOU died,
YOU brought hope, life and freedom,
To us,
The generations that follow.
We honour YOU,
We remember YOU,
We hold YOU close in our hearts,
In our prayers,
As we go about our days.
Not only today,
On the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month.
But all our days.
You were our Guardian Angels,
Protecting us,
We appreciate every single one of YOU,
We give thanks for YOU,
And in YOUR names,
Pray that no one else will ever again fall.
